Kent Browning

Kent Browning is a licensed mechanical engineer in Texas with over 15 years of experience as a building commissioner. Mr. Browning instructs and publishes on a wide variety of building science related topics, with a special emphasis on topics related to his findings in building commissioning. He has been a guest instructor at the Greater Austin Home Builders Association for the past two years. He also publishes peer reviewed papers each year and makes presentation of those papers at ASHRAE (American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers), Building Commissioning Association, U.S. Green Building Council, and AIA (American Institute of Architects) meetings and conferences. Mr. Browning was also formerly an instructor at Austin Community College, where he trained employees for the semiconductor industry.

Mike DeWein

Mr. DeWein is a nationally renowned authority, trainer, and presenter on energy codes, energy efficiency, sustainability, and applied building science. He has over 25 years of experience in progressively responsible positions, utilizing his technical knowledge and expertise in promoting energy efficiency in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Mr. DeWein has developed numerous training programs and has led advocacy efforts to pass increasingly efficient and cost-effective building codes throughout the country. He has been Technical Director of BCAP for over 16 years, and in this role he has initiated partnerships with a variety of nationwide energy efficiency organizations, including CEC, ICECF, and BMI. Mr. DeWein holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering Technology from Paul Smith's College, and is currently finishing an MBA program in sustainable Business Development.

Doug Garrett

Mr. Garrett is the owner of Texas' first building science consulting business (BPCI) for the last 15
years, with a total of 25 years of experience in the building science and energy efficiency industry. He
has served as an energy code trainer for dozens of clients, including past energy code update training on
behalf of the Texas State Energy Conservation Office (SECO). Within the last 3 years, Mr. Garrett has
been the primary Master Trainer for the TDHCA Texas Weatherization Academy, training both trainers
and students.
During the course of his career, Doug has presented hundreds of seminars on energy codes, applied
building science, energy efficiency, moisture management, air conditioning, indoor air quality, and green
building to audiences across the nation including: Building Performance Institute (BPI), Residential
Energy Services Network (RESNET), the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology,
Affordable Comfort, US DOE National Weatherization Training Conference, PG&E, NYSERDA,
NAHB, Oncor Energy, Dow Building Materials, Insulation Contractors Association of America National
Conference, the Indoor Air Quality Association National Conference, Southern California Edison Electric
Utility, Trainer for the Lower Colorado River Authority's Energy Auditors, Texas Association of
